Platform Masters Title
Platform Masters - Will you be the world's next platform master?

Carnivalesta - trees near Sentus Hotel

Date: June 11, 2015
Screenshot #591: Carnivalesta now has trees in the grassy area just beyond the carnival grounds but before the highway and Sentus Mountains. What's more is that the trees have a varying brightness, depending on the proximity of the lights. The closer the trees are to the lights, the brighter they are. The area nearest to the Sentus Hotel really shows this well. Trees are generally along the ponds, but a few odd balls are scattered around away from the ponds. For best visibility of the trees, I temporarily blocked the drawing of the roller coaster tracks.

Carnivalesta - trees near large pond

Date: June 11, 2015
Screenshot #592: In the area nearest to the large pond, where a bunch of other ponds are close to it, there are a lot of trees, in the highest density. With the water lit up by the surrounding lights and the Moon, the darkest trees, farthest from the lights, are much more easily visible. Like the above, I blocked the drawing of the roller coaster tracks to maximize visibility.

Carnivalesta - trees around cop car

Date: June 11, 2015
Screenshot #593: With the roller coaster tracks now being drawn, this gives a good sense on what you're really going to be seeing. This is that area where the cop car has the flashing lights.

Barugan Islands - Marusi Island lighting update high

Date: June 22, 2015
Screenshot #594: Learning from Carnivalesta, I took the lighting situation to Marusi Island, the largest visible island in the secret world 19, Barugan Islands. The end result? It's a lot more vibrant (and glittery) than before. This is a view near the best viewing altitude.

The lower part is classified until about a month or so after PM's release.

Barugan Islands - Marusi Island lighting update medium

Date: June 22, 2015
Screenshot #595: This is over to the right quite a bit and about 35% of the height. From a lower vantage point, the details aren't as decent, but it's still easy to see all the detail present.

The lower part is classified until about a month or so after PM's release.

Carnivalesta - darkened signs

Date: May 21, 2016
Screenshot #596: After nearly a year of not working on Platform Masters, due to writing a new book, I've returned to working on Platform Masters. I finished Ninbaranai Island (for Barugan Islands) then remembered a bug that I had with the signs where they weren't darkening as they should. The fix? I had to write more code to get it to work and it works exactly as expected. After all, when it's dark, you're not supposed to be able to read a book that easily, let alone a sign. When it's bright the sign is supposed to be bright and easily read. This case is only a partial darkening.

Barugan Islands - Ninbaranai Island at closest point

Date: May 21, 2016
Screenshot #597: Ninbaranai Island (pronounced "Nihn b? AHN Eye") is similar to Marusi Island except smaller and much closer. In fact, the close placement that I had caused some unexpected results that mean either moving that island farther away (to at least 68 SU instead of 42 3/4) or making a lot of plan changes with the closer-in scenery. I'm leaning toward the former as it's easier and keeps most of my original visions of how I feel the setting should be like. Moving it also helps cut memory usage down by a significant amount allowing more detail to be added in. Further details and what the actual screenshot looks like will be released about a month or so after PM's release.

Musan Swamp - mid-distance decals first look

Date: June 7, 2016
Screenshot #598: Musan Swamp is the game's most difficult world of all. Just accessing it alone is a challenge in and of itself, let alone completing its levels. So, why not reward the player from all their effort with a setting that has some of the most scenic sights of all? When I saw this in the game engine, I was really amazed. Yet, Musan Swamp isn't entirely finished yet as more trees are needed to fill in those gaps, along with a few other details. It's definitely shaping up to be a very complex world, as I intended on. Further details and what the actual screenshot is will be released about a month or so after PM's release.
